I wasn’t a fan of boyfriend jeans when they first came out, they did not look like something that could ever be flattering on a plus size girl. But multiple chic ensembles on Pinterest made we at least want to give them a go. When I came across a pair in the plus size section at Forever 21, I knew I had to get them. I mean, Forever 21 Plus is my denim mecca, I knew they would fit and I have never regretted a single denim purchase from there.

It turns out that even though they look like they’re boyfriend jeans, Forever 21 calls them skinny jeans on their website. Well, these skinny jeans are baggy, distressed, and extremely flattering on my shape. They are so comfortable, like denim yoga pants, and look great with kitten heels or pumps. Styling them isn’t as easy as I expected, this is only the second outfit I could come up with (you can check out my first here) but I’m hoping to get more creative and push my comfort boundaries to make sure they will be a long term staple.

Are you a fan of boyfriend jeans? Do you have any styling tips?

I love them with that floral blazer, I feel like a dolman or batwing top could be cute & slouchy also?

Hi Weesha, I think your outfit is cute! The title of your post is kind of strange, though. I mean, “styling plus size jeans?” You may as well say “styling size 10 shoes”. The size of your jeans is not the important part of your outfit post — it’s the fact that they are distressed light denim tapered jeans, and how you yourself choose to wear them. In all honesty, I am a bit puzzled about why they are such a mystery to style, although, if they aren’t a jean style you like in general (you mention that F21 is your jeans go-to…. for other styles, I assume) why not just wear what you like better?

I know you can (and do) pull of some really cool rock-n-roll looks, and I am thinking these jeans might work really well with those. I’m seeing some tough black platforms here, rather than the neutral pair you have on.

Also, although the ankles are skinny, I’m wondering what these would look like rolled up? Maybe it wouldn’t work, but just a few ideas! I’ve found myself to be an experiemental stylist – I’m not one that just ‘knows’ what will look good, so I try lots of different things and see what sticks. So, maybe these ideas will work, or, maybe they will be worth a laugh. 🙂

Gorgeous. I love the floral blazer with this look!

It took me a couple of years (seriously) to find “boyfriend” jeans that finally worked for my particular body but now that I have them, I definitely love them. They add a new silhouette to my wardrobe.
