Reader Gretchen sent me this request:
My trouble is finding outfits that work without making my hips/butt look huge. My waist is 28″ and my hips are 38″. I
f I wear flow-y tops or pants, I look like I have gained about 10-20 pounds because everything falls in line with my hips; however, if I wear more fitted clothing, my hips and butt stick out. Flow-y with belts around my waist perhaps?
This doesn’t seem like a common problem for women anymore as it seems the true hourglass figure is getting lost somehow. So it’s been tough to find information.

Reader Sarah e-mailed me this question:
I tend to gravitate toward matchy-matchy pieces, perhaps because they seem safe and that’s primarily what was modeled growing up in a rural community. In particular, I struggle to find earrings that go with statement necklaces, especially when one or the other contains colored stones or beads. Most of my earrings tend to be relatively short drops, but at times they seem to detract from or contrast with the necklaces. If I go without either the earrings or necklace, my look seems incomplete; earrings tend to disappear into my curly hair or my neck feels too open. Any advice?

Reader Marina sent me this question in an e-mail:
I’ve noticed recently how many lovely, full-skirts you rock (whether as parts of dresses or actual skirts), and I’m wondering if you might consider one of your reader request posts for similar outfits. Particularly for long-torso’d people. I’m thinking how to match full-skirts with tops that aren’t just blouses or button ups, and/or full-skirted tall dresses.
When I first started wearing skirts, pencils and A-lines dominated. My first full skirt was an orange pleated one from Banana Republic that still gets loads of wear to this day, and I remember wondering how on earth to style it when it first came into my possession. Now full skirts are my go-to style, and I’m delighted to share my tips for making them work.
