When I first moved to Minneapolis, I lived in a neighborhood called Uptown. Near my tiny little studio apartment was a place that was a combination video rental store and tanning salon. Same shop, two very different services. And, initially, I thought this was quite odd but the longer I lived here, the more multi-tasking businesses I discovered. Bowling alley / restaurant / black box theater. Art gallery / accountant office. These places exist and thrive here. I don’t belt as much nowadays, but I’m a big believer in the power of belts to transform a silhouette. Before I discovered the wonderful world of belting, my waist was seldom seen by anyone besides my husband.

But belts are not for everyone. Depending on your proportions, belting may feel strange or look strange. Depending on your personal style, belting may have very limited appeal.
