the next time you post about jewelry, could you share some thoughts for drawing attention to the face for those of us who can’t wear earrings? i may be in the minority here, but my ears have been terribly allergic for years (i’ve tried it all).

So I’m gonna assume that Jenni’s ears are sensitive enough that clip-ons won’t work either. So we’re going 100% earring-free here, friends. Let’s see what we can come up with. read more

How to Wear Colors that Make You Look Ill

Because I have experienced first-hand the spirit-lifting power of color, I feel it is my duty to encourage everyone to wear more of it. Strangers on the street! Tiny children! Farm animals! You should all be wearing more color, dammit. No, I don’t have to look at you to know it. I can just tell.

Yet, I’m well aware that neutrals feel safe and eternally chic. And, perhaps more importantly, that certain colors make certain people look peaked. Poorly. Washed-out. Just plain awful. And while I believe that sometimes one should wear a bright, happy, invigorating shade despite its potential complexion-ruining properties, I also understand that most of us prefer to look healthy and glowing most days. read more

… the Yes to Tomatoes Acne Spot Stick.

I’ve written a bit about my struggles with adult acne, and in those writings I’ve outlined the complex routines and long lists of products I employ to keep my skin relatively clear. I’d all but given up on over-the-counter acne remedies when I was given this little guy in a gift bag from a Yes To event and figured I’d give it a whirl. The active ingredients are tomato-derived salicylic acid and tea tree oil, both of which I’ve tried in the past. And in the past they’d dried out my skin, made it sore and itchy, and failed to help my acne in either the short or the long term. read more
