Anyone else feel like just about everything polka-dotted looks at least slightly retro? Even brand-new stuff in relatively contemporary shapes and cuts just makes me think 50s diners and Betty Boop when polka dots come into play. And not in a bad way – not at all! I love me some retro and repro as much as the next gal. Just strikes me as odd since plaids, stripes, and florals are easily as common but don’t feel as closely associated with a past era. Anyhoo, this cotton voile dress is a late summer favorite. Lightweight, comfy, and retro-cute. read more

I wore this to teach my community ed class on Monday, and had a blast chatting with my lovely students. Thanks to everyone who came out!

The dress is a new purchase from my recent Chicago trip, and hails from an amazing boutique called Skandal that specializes in clothes, shoes, and a few accessories from Scandinavia. AND the proprietor is a Minnesota native, so we ended up chatting and bonding and plotting to grab coffee and talk fashion next time I’m in town. A great experience, and a fantastic purchase. This comfy, flattering sweater dress is bound to become a fall and winter staple. read more
