Several months ago, a woman in her 90s swung by a book signing event to ask me what she should be reading to keep up with the current fashion trends. She was just as stylish as she could be in a multicolored tweed blazer and burgundy Chanel flats, and CLEARLY needed no help from me. But she wanted my input. And she didn’t do Internet, so blogs were right out. I told her to take a peek at More Magazine, Real Simple, and to sign up to receive the J.Crew catalog. Now, I know full well that a 90-year-old gal is unlikely to be ordering a French hen intarsia sweater and cropped polka dot pants for herself. Back in May, I posted interviews with three women who dress within defined aesthetics. Many of you wanted this to become a regular feature. It has proven difficult to find folks who adhere to a single look or style AND are willing to participate, but I’ve finally got another three collected. Huge thanks to the women who contributed!

This Week I Love …

Talbots.

My relationship with this store has been rocky, to say the least. I spent most of my life believing that Talbots was stocked with nautical-themed, slightly stodgy gear that would age me by several decades. And honestly? I think that in years past, that might actually have been the case. But recently, this vendor has done an amazing job of modernizing its offerings and injecting a few key trends into its stock, all the while remaining true to its classic, quality roots.

I have sung the praises of Talbots jeans for ages, as I find them to be comfortable, durable, and high-waisted enough to work on my figure.
