I was reading that you don’t consider yourself Boho, and it got me wondering how you describe your style? I’m fascinated with how people describe themselves, and I wonder if you don’t describe it, if you find that limiting, or if you do with some number of adjectives, pictures or metaphors. I’ve read somewhere to come up with two adjectives to describe your style. I think that sounds like an interesting exercise. read more

Poseurs and Personae

I love playing around with sartorial personae. Mine are more active in summer and fall, as evidenced by the above photos of me in futuristic tough-gal, cowgirl, and retro woman attire. But I do my fair share of playing with punk, arty girl, and nomad looks through the winter months, too. It’s exciting and invigorating to wear an ensemble that highlights an aspect of your personality, or expresses a part of yourself you wish you could explore more thoroughly.

But I find that there are certain lines I’m loathe to cross, certain garments I feel strange wearing, and certain combinations of pieces that push me over the line into feeling like a poseur. Interestingly, much of that has to do with authenticity. read more

I love your post on “How to Dress Joyously.” Similarly, you could do a post on specific prints, styles, colors, or color combinations that lift your spirits.

Woo! Now here’s a question I’m tickled to tackle. As you’ve heard me say approximately 78 gazillion times, I believe that how we choose to dress can impact how we feel. The colors, textures, prints, and patterns we put on our bodies travel with us all day, so why not pick something that makes you smile whenever you glance into a mirror?
