Oh, color blocking. You are a concept that has been floating around the fashion world for several years now, making many of us scratch our heads in confusion. You sound so simple! I mean, isn’t color blocking just wearing multiple swaths of solid color? Can’t I throw on a cobalt top and red pants and say I’ve color blocked?

Gracey Wears: Vintage Bananas

And stripes.  Today I’m wearing both bananas and stripes:

The dress is from a local vintage store in Portland, Billy Goat Vintage.  They have an amazing collection of items, but on my first ever visit there I saw this banana print dress and knew it was all over. I had to have it:

The jacket is also vintage, but from a local thrift store:

And the sandals, they are Steve Madden and I chose them specifically to add a modern edge to my all-vintage look.  Head-to-toe vintage is not really my aesthetic; I prefer, instead, to mix modern and vintage in a single outfit. read more

Gracey Wears: Mustard

Yellow often gets a bad rap and mustard yellow is the most maligned of the yellows.  Everyone yells that they can’t wear it, that they feel like a hot dog, that it’s doing horrible things to their complexion and that it’s the worst.  Well, I’m here to tell you that I disagree.  I love yellow and I’m particularly fond of mustard yellow.
