I like the simplicity of this outfit; jeans, booties, sweater, and a belt. I do have a bit of jewelry on as well: necklace, earrings, bracelet, and rings. But most of that is not really visible unless you are fairly close to me. The four basic clothing items though, those are quite visible from a distance. The thing I like the most about it all? How much the belt helps to make this an outfit and not just some clothes.
This idea of what creates an outfit, versus just some random clothing, is something that I have pondered for some time. Honestly, most of the time I am totally lost about the world of fashion. I don’t follow trends or keep up on the most current styles. All I try to do is wear the clothes that I have in a way that I think looks somewhat stylish. I really try to not go all-out with outlandish over-the-top looks. That is actually the exact type of look I try to stay away from. Thus subtlety is my goal. A super subtle way to make something look so much better is the simple addition of a belt. That, at least, is a little something I have figured out!
And speaking of belts, this is one of my super faves! First off it is a stretch belt. That is pretty much a requirement for me to wear it around the skinniest portion of my waist. The other thing I really like about it is that it is reversible. I think in my previous post I was also wearing it, but this time the silver side is showing whereas previously the brown side was showing. What is my complaint about the belt? I don’t know who made it. I suppose that is not the belt’s fault, but there often does not seem to be any good way for manufacturers to mark their belts. Thus whenever I take off the tags I tend to totally forget who made it. Generally most of my belts have either come from Target or White House Black Market or DSW. But they are something I tend to always be on the lookout for and thus I will purchase them whenever I find good one.
Okay. That’s about it. I really like belts! I hope you too, can find good uses for them to help you look fabu!
Love you, love yourself!

Hi, I’m Nadine Spirit and I have been a lifelong gender non-conformer. I have always understood that I am a bit different than most but it was not until sometime in my thirties that I came to understand that I am transgender. While I spend most of my time presenting as a male I am always presenting in a gender non-conforming manner.
I started my blog, Unordinary Style, with the idea of being able to show a stylish side to those who identify as transgender. Since that time my blog has evolved into showing my personal style, discussing a wide variety of transgender topics, as well as posts about my personal life. My personal style continues to evolve as I attempt to continually push myself to pick stuff off of the racks, take it into the dressing room, and try on as much as I can. I am a firm believer in ignoring tag sizes, never paying retail prices, and due to a terrific allergy – that nickel should never be in any jewelry!
